Growth of Engineering Team

We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our team with the addition of Nishchal Shorey as Principal Engineer. We are excited to welcome Nishchal, whose wealth of experience in the power industry brings valuable expertise to our team. With a deep understanding of protection principles, proficiency in identifying and resolving protection-related issues, and a talent for guiding cross-functional teams in multidiscipline environments, we know Nishchal will thrive in this role.

Originally from India, Nishchal earned his electrical and electronics engineering degree from Kuvempu University in Karnataka before relocating to the United States two decades ago, where he currently resides in Maryland. His interest in electrical engineering stems from the integral role it plays in society’s infrastructure. He finds the challenge of designing systems capable of withstanding and quickly recovering from faults particularly intriguing. He says, “The unique challenges of the electric grid infrastructures have given me a diverse perspective on system protection needs and evolving solutions.” Overall, Nishchal was drawn to the power industry by the critical role that power system protection plays in ensuring grid reliability and security.

Nishchal’s extensive experience includes the application of relay protection schemes, fault analysis, relay coordination studies, settings calculations/development/programming, and troubleshooting. He also possesses expertise in interpreting and applying relevant BES NERC PRC & CIP standards. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated adeptness in managing, consulting, and developing people, processes, and procedures.

Passionate about the development and implementation of protective relay systems, analysis, settings, and the development of automated tools to support settings, Nishchal was drawn to SynchroGrid by its vision of grid reliability through innovative solutions. He sees a close alignment between his background in protection design, relay settings, substation digitalization, and his desire for process integration and optimization through automated solutions.

Nishchal’s goal at SynchroGrid is to push the boundaries of power system protection and contribute to the company’s legacy of innovation in the field. He looks forward to applying his experience to collaborate with colleagues on projects and products that advance industry standards.
