Transmission Line Relay Setting Development Module

SARA’s transmission line relay setting module allows engineers to develop a template to define their protection philosophy, creating a consistent standard for the utility to follow by:

  • Communicating bi-directionally with the short-circuit model to automate data collection and fault analysis
  • Eliminating copy and paste processes for more reliable results
  • Calculating the new relay settings and generating a relay database file
  • Producing reporting documentation that can be used for NERC compliance

Just like the Transmission line module, SARA’s Autotransformer module allows engineers to calculate settings in a fully streamlined and automated process.

Just like the Transmission line module, SARA’s Autotransformer module allows engineers to calculate settings in a fully streamlined and automated process.

In addition this module includes the following added capabilities:

  • Allows the user to create philosophy specific to autotransformers
  • Gathers impedance and fault data for autotransformers and nearby equipment
  • Plots damage curves to verify reliability
  • Compares TOC curves of the autotransformer and nearby TOC relays

SARA Successfully Addresses PRC-027-1, significantly simplifies wide area coordination studies, and reduces workloads from several days to several hours.

Wide Area Coordination Module

SARA Successfully Addresses PRC-027-1, significantly simplifies wide area coordination studies, and reduces workloads from several days to several hours.

This module automates PRC-027 by performing the following tasks:

  • Verifies the short-circuit model data
  • Selects coordination criteria for the WAC study
  • Runs the coordination study, which creates a wide-area analysis of the system
  • Reviews the discovered violations displayed in the SARA dashboard
  • Resolves the violations within the SARA dashboard, which automatically resolves the issues in the short-circuit program
  • Generates a report automatically, which can be used for NERC compliance documentation
  • Updates the short-circuit program case automatically with the required changes
