SynchroGrid’s New Addition to Relay Setting Team

SynchroGrid is pleased to introduce the newest addition to our relay setting team, Nathan Waldron, who is joining us as a Relay Setting Engineer I. Nathan brings a wealth of creativity and eagerness to learn, making him a great addition to our growing team.

Nathan is originally from San Angelo, TX and wound up in College Station for school where he currently attends Texas A&M University and studies electrical engineering. During his time at Texas A&M, he has gained experience through two internships with Electric Power Design and Burns & McDonnell. Nathan is starting with us part-time as he finishes up his degree, and will join us full-time in May upon graduation.

Nathan’s passion for engineering traces back to his early years in middle school when he began building computers.  Fascinated by the simplicity of the process, he wanted to learn more about the components that made up the computer. His uncle, who is an electrical engineer, explained to him that the different components were designed by electrical engineers. Nathan says this was the moment he knew he wanted to become an electrical engineer.

In his current role, his main goal is to learn as much as possible each day. Nathan says that he “sees engineering consulting as an industry where one never stops learning. At the very beginning, however, there is a vast amount of knowledge that needs to be learned to create a solid foundation. My goal is to create that foundation as fast as possible.”

What particularly attracted Nathan to SynchroGrid was the team’s unwavering dedication to developing new methods in relay protection schemes. SynchroGrid’s dedication to innovating and pushing the limit in the field of protection and control was what set the company apart from its competitors in Nathan’s eyes.

Outside of the office and classroom, Nathan enjoys spending time with friends and watching sports. Nathan also likes different physical activities, such as running, lifting, and combat sports.
