SynchroGrid Returns for 10th Year to Texas A&M’s Conference for Protective Relay Engineers

The 2023 Conference for Protective Relay Engineers will take place on the Texas A&M University campus from March 27–30, 2023. SynchroGrid will be participating as a vendor at the exhibit hall, teaching a pre-conference seminar, and presenting a paper.

Pre-Conference Seminar

March 27 | 1:30-3:30 PM | Memorial Student Center 1400

Join us for our pre-conference seminar as we discuss autonomous intelligence in system protection. In this free class, SynchroGrid will present three main topics that will give engineers the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively develop transmission line settings.

In the first topic, SynchroGrid will explain three different line protection philosophies that range from simple to more complex. The user will be given step by step instructions on how to build these philosophies from scratch, build equations, set NERC compliance flags, security points, etc. Finally, the user will learn how to automate all three of these protection philosophies.

The second topic will teach the basics of scripting using ASPEN OneLiner’s Python Interface to assist with the development of relay settings. The user will be given step by step instructions on how to get started with creating automation scripts to create relay settings.

In the third part of this class, SynchroGrid will demonstrate how to set up relay links between ASPEN OneLiner, SEL RDB files, PowerBase, or ASPEN RDB in order to automate relay setting retrieval. This is a crucial step in order for relay setting engineers to keep the ASPEN OneLiner model up to date to easily perform relay setting calculations and overall coordination.

Presentations

March 30 | 11:30 AM | Memorial Student Center 2406B

Come watch our paper presentation, “Distance and Time Overcurrent Relay Coordination with an Autosolver Framework.” In this presentation, we will present research results from a DOE grant that demonstrate improvements made to our autotuner framework through multiple experiments.

Exhibit Hall

Come see us at Booth 5! The exhibit hall is in the Bethancourt Ballroom of the Memorial Student Center.

Make sure to stop by our booth to meet our team and learn about the innovative services and tools we have to offer. We will also be providing demonstrations of our relay setting automation software tool, SARA.

The exhibit hall will be open at the following times:

• Monday: 5:00-7:00 PM
• Tuesday: 12:00-1:30 PM & 5:00-7:00 PM
• Wednesday: 12:00-1:30 PM
