From Five Internships to Full-Time Engineer

Stephen Darwin’s journey with SynchroGrid is a testament to the value of investing in emerging talent and providing opportunities for growth. Over the course of his academic career, Stephen completed an impressive five internships with SynchroGrid, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of projects while building strong relationships with our team. Today, we are proud to welcome him into a full-time role as a Design Engineer II!

Stephen earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, along with a minor in Mathematics. His passion for engineering stems from a lifelong interest in mathematics and problem-solving. During his time at Texas A&M, a power systems course sparked his interest in the electric power industry and set him on a path toward a career in the field.

What Stephen enjoys most about engineering is the challenge of finding solutions, uncovering answers, and understanding how and why systems work the way they do. He approaches engineering with both curiosity and determination, combining big-picture thinking with a strong attention to detail. His ability to quickly learn new concepts and remain focused on solving complex problems has made him a valuable contributor throughout his internships.

Prior to joining SynchroGrid full time, Stephen gained industry experience through a co-op with L3Harris in Greenville, Texas, as well as earlier internships in manufacturing and engineering environments. However, much of his professional development occurred right here at SynchroGrid, where he worked alongside experienced engineers and gained exposure to real-world power system and design projects.

Stephen was initially drawn to SynchroGrid by the company culture, the connections he had with members of our team, and the opportunity to work for an Aggie-owned company. Through five internships, he became an integral part of the organization and consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, technical aptitude, and commitment to learning.

As he begins this next chapter as a Design Engineer II, Stephen looks forward to continuing his professional growth, earning his FE certification, and working toward his PE license. We are incredibly proud of Stephen’s journey from intern to full-time engineer and look forward to seeing the impact he will continue to make at SynchroGrid. Please join us in congratulating Stephen on this exciting milestone!
