Whether you’re kicking off the Texas A&M conference or your workday, join SynchroGrid for breakfast tacos (in-person only) and earn PDHs (in-person and virtual attendees).
This session is suitable for both experienced SARA users and engineers seeking an overview of PRC-027 wide area coordination workflows, with a focus on key concepts and practical implementation. Ensuring compliance with NERC-027 can be time-consuming and complex for utilities. With the fast-approaching Requirement 2 deadline in 2027, SARA’s Wide Area Coordination (WAC) module simplifies this effort by interfacing directly with a short circuit model to clearly identify coordination violations and provide a structured, efficient workflow for resolution across large and complex protection systems.
In this in-person and virtual seminar, attendees will see a live demonstration of how engineers can define their protection philosophy within the WAC module and how SARA can be used to interactively evaluate how setting changes affect coordination – such as coordination time intervals (CTIs) and distance zone reaches – across the rest of the grid. The session will show how engineers can quickly assess tradeoffs, validate improvements, and converge on compliant settings. Attendees will also see how finalized settings can be exported and integrated back into the ASPEN model and prepared for field implementation, reducing manual effort and the risk of data inconsistency. In addition, the class will highlight how SynchroGrid links ASPEN grid models with Doble PowerBase™ to maintain accurate, up-to-date one-line models and support reliable compliance studies.
