SynchroGrid is excited to announce the release of SARA 3.8.0, introducing new functionality, enhanced automation capabilities, and usability improvements designed to streamline protection engineering workflows.

New Features

New Bus Differential Module

SARA 3.8.0 introduces a powerful Bus Differential Module that enables users to create customized bus differential settings by selecting the currents included in the analysis and applying their specific protection philosophy. Key capabilities include:

  • Develop secure and dependable bus differential settings customized to a utility’s protection philosophy.
  • Validate CT performance and differential element operation using SARA’s integrated fault simulation workflow.
  • Streamline setting development for complex bus configurations, such as bus ties, ring buses, and breaker-and-a-half schemes.

Enhanced Wide Area Coordination (WAC) Automation

Several new automation features have been added to WAC, including:

  • Auto-Solve functionality for new WAC projects
  • Auto-Solve support for Equation Studies
  • The ability to link multiple settings to transmission line equations to automatically resolve violations
  • Skip Contingency tag for CTI studies, allowing users to omit contingencies for relay groups that have matching tag in ASPEN

Improved File Management

Users can now open SARA files with a simple double-click and benefit from unique file extensions and icons for project and template files across modules.

Autotransformer Enhancements

A Mechanical Damage Curve has been added to the Settings Calibration tab, providing additional support for transformer protection studies.

Usability Improvements

SARA 3.8.0 also includes numerous interface and performance enhancements, including:

  • Improved layout for smaller screens
  • Faster WAC Individual Report generation
  • Enhanced troubleshooting and logging capabilities
  • Circular dependency detection within transmission line setting cards
  • Expanded reporting capabilities through external RDB integration
