From Insight to Action: Texas A&M Protective Relay Conference

We were thrilled to participate once again in the Texas A&M Annual Conference for Protective Relay Engineers. A huge thank-you to the dedicated organizers who put together another outstanding event, and to our SynchroGrid team for their commitment to attending sessions, presenting technical material, and engaging with attendees at our booth.

Pre-Conference Seminar
We kicked off the conference with a dynamic seminar that blended practical tools with forward-looking strategies. The session included:

  • A live demonstration of SARA’s Wide Area Coordination (WAC) module for NERC PRC-027-1 compliance, showing how automation can streamline coordination and enhance system reliability
  • Insights into automating relay settings, fault analysis, and model validation, helping attendees identify errors and simplify updates across large systems
  • Lessons learned, best practices, and actionable tools that attendees can immediately apply to improve efficiency and compliance

The seminar sparked meaningful discussions and provided attendees with hands-on takeaways to bring back to their organizations.

Technical Presentation
Our paper, “A Comparison of Deterministic Automation and AI-Based Approaches for Protective Relay Settings and Coordination,” highlighted the strengths of deterministic automation in achieving accurate, reliable, and fully compliant relay settings. We explored how AI can complement—but not replace—automation, and shared real-world examples comparing approaches across accuracy, scalability, and regulatory compliance. It was great to see so many colleagues engage in the session—thank you to everyone who attended!

Exhibit Hall
At Booth 5, we connected with clients, partners, and new attendees eager to learn about SynchroGrid’s innovative software and consulting services. From live SARA demos to discussions about wide area coordination and automation, the exhibit hall was a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas and showcase how we’re helping utilities streamline processes and simplify protection system coordination.

We’re energized by this year’s experience and excited to continue driving innovation in system protection. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s Texas A&M Annual Conference for Protective Relay Engineers!
