Compliance, Coordination, and Connection at Texas A&M Conference
We are grateful to have been a part of the Texas A&M Conference for Protective Relay Engineers once again. A big thank-you to the dedicated staff who organized another outstanding event and to our team for their commitment to attending sessions, presenting technical material, and representing SynchroGrid at our booth.
Pre-Conference Seminar
We kicked off the conference with a focused seminar that combined practical tools with forward-thinking strategies. The session began with an introduction to OlxAPI for ASPEN OneLiner, where we demonstrated how to automate data gathering and fault analysis—complete with ready-to-use scripts for attendees to take home. We then transitioned into the importance of model validation, highlighting how automation can help identify modeling errors and simplify relay setting updates. Finally, we explored Wide Area Coordination under NERC PRC-027-1, sharing lessons learned, best practices, and tools that streamline compliance and enhance system reliability. The seminar fostered meaningful discussions and offered attendees actionable insights to bring back to their organizations.
Technical Presentation
Our paper, “Automating NERC PRC-027-1 Compliance: A Comprehensive Approach to Large-Scale Protection System Coordination,” focused on practical strategies for achieving compliance at scale. We discussed how segmenting service territories and voltage levels can make large coordination studies more manageable, and how updating models, performing deep analyses, and aligning with NERC maintenance schedules can improve accuracy and reliability. It was great to see so many familiar and new faces at the session—thank you to everyone who joined us!
Exhibit Hall
Throughout the exhibit hall, we had the pleasure of connecting with clients, partners, and new attendees interested in our services and software. It was a great opportunity to exchange ideas, answer questions, and showcase the ways we’re helping utilities automate processes and simplify protection system coordination.
We are excited to continue the momentum and continue to drive innovation in system protection. Already looking forward to next year’s Texas A&M Conference for Protective Relay Engineers. See you there!
