SynchroGrid is excited to welcome Alberto Borgnino to our software team as a Principal Software Engineer! Alberto is an experienced software developer who has been in the power industry for over 20 years and will be an asset to our company and our customers. His focus in the company will be on improving automation performance for wide area coordination (WAC) algorithms, developing new methods to automate relay settings and protection schemes, and employing new mathematical methods to solve complex relay coordination problems. 

Alberto’s previous experience includes work for notable companies such as DIgSILENT and Electrical Power Research Institute (EPRI). At DIgSILENT, Alberto played a key role in the development of their PowerFactory simulation software, implementing relay model algorithms as well as both automatic overcurrent setting calculation and the system protection modules. Alberto spent much of his time at EPRI focusing on the development of wide area relay setting evaluation tools in Python. He has a deep understanding of both software development and protection engineering, making him an excellent fit for our team of professionals who are committed to accelerating innovation in system protection.

Our customers will benefit from Alberto’s wealth of knowledge in a variety of areas related to protection engineering and software development including his knowledge of automated relay coordination tools and studies, relay modeling, and customer support. His software development experience will help as we continue to expand the capabilities and intelligence of our software products and automation solutions. His unique set of skills perfectly position him to develop cutting-edge technology, aligning with our goal of providing innovative solutions for the power industry.

Alberto earned his master’s degree in Electric Power Engineering at the University of Genoa. He is excited about his new role at SynchroGrid and looks forward to contributing to the company’s ongoing growth and success.
