SynchroGrid is a Texas-based company that offers electric utilities a wide range of innovative, professional solutions in system protection for generation, transmission, and distribution systems. We are a registered Texas engineering firm and have enjoyed increasing success since the company was established by our founder, Joe Perez, in 2012. SynchroGrid offers a high level of talent, experience, and innovation that enables us to provide reliable and high-quality services.

In the early years of the company, SynchroGrid was primarily a consulting company composed of design and relay setting engineers. Having spent time in the utility, manufacturing and consulting fields, Joe noticed that the current processes for developing drawing and relay settings were inefficient and highly prone to error. He soon added an automation team to the company to automate system protection processes, and SynchroGrid now has a complete software department that focuses on developing and customizing automation solutions for the industry. This combination of experience has been well received across the country, and many utilities such as National Grid (Boston), EKPC (Kentucky), LCRA (Austin), and others have adopted our automated processes. Our focus on research and innovation has enabled us to provide cutting-edge solutions and stay ahead of the competition.

Joe Perez

Founder and Protection Engineer



Joe Perez started SynchroGrid in 2012. Since then, the company has continued to grow and has even developed its own relay setting automation software, SARA.

Joe is a registered professional electrical engineer in the state of Texas and has in-depth experience in power system protection settings and design from the manufacturer and utility perspectives. He has written papers for major relay conferences in the U.S. and many application notes and testing procedures for relay manufacturers and utilities. Joe is the co-creator of a transformer rating software.


Joe Perez established SynchroGrid to provide electric utilities with power system protection applications, analysis, and training. Joe has provided services to relay manufacturers, utilities, and oil and gas companies.
SynchroGrid’s services include, but are not limited to, relay protection scheme design, relay coordination studies, microprocessor relay settings, relay mis-operations analysis, NERC standard compliance for system protection, relay testing, relay standard development, power flow and contingency analysis, and loadability studies of transmission lines and transformers.
